This type of Allium found in 1773 but not described until 1830. Its country of origin is Eastern Europe north of the Caspian-sea, where they occur in steppes and salt marshes. With sky-blue flowers, spherical shape and diameter of 4 cm ( 1,5” ) is this species very suitable for naturalizing. When emerging, the leaves look like blades of grass, which have virtually disappeared before flowering.
